It’s an industry that just doesn’t quit. Once again, D CEO received an overwhelming number of nominations in this year’s Commercial Real Estate Awards program. After three long judging sessions, editors have selected 103 projects, transactions, and dealmakers for recognition.
This year, the program’s top individual honor, the Pioneer Award, will go to Jack Matthews of Matthews Southwest. The developer and investor cracked open the southern Dallas market with projects like South Side on Lamar, Gilley’s Dallas, and the Omni Dallas Hotel. Other local projects include The Tribute, a lakeside residential community in The Colony, and restorations of historic properties like Dallas High School. Matthews recently was selected to oversee Dallas new and expanded 2.5 million-square-foot Convention Center.

D CEO editors created a special honor this year, the Industry Impact Award, to recognize the late Cushman & Wakefield broker Michael Wyatt, who died last September. Wyatt was passionate about promoting urban Dallas and led or supported endeavors such as Urban Armadillos, which created the Pegasus Urban Trail mobile app, Klyde Warren Park, and various cancer- and education-related initiatives.
This is the 13th year for D CEO’s Commercial Real Estate Awards, which launched in 2013. Various sectors and specialties are honored via categories that range from Best New Mixed-Use Project and Best Industrial Lease to Commercial Real Estate Executive of the Year. Finalists represent many of the region’s largest transactions and developments, but smaller deals that are game-changers in their industries or neighborhoods are also recognized.
Finalists will be featured in a special editorial package in the April issue of D CEO; winners will be revealed at an invitation-only event in March.
All 103 finalists in the 2024 program are listed below, in alphabetical order.
