An apartment builder with several new communities on the way in North Texas is building its next project in McKinney.

Developer Mill Creek Residential is constructing the 381-unit Modera McKinney Ridge apartments at 2400 N. Hardin Boulevard, north of U.S. Highway 380. The apartment project is being built near the 212-acre Erwin Park.

“Modera McKinney Ridge will be a truly unique place to live in the Metroplex,” Michael Blackwell, senior managing director of development in North Texas for Mill Creek Residential, said in a statement. “The community showcases a park-like natural setting that offers great trails and open spaces, while also providing remarkable connectivity to schools, employment, entertainment, and great shopping and dining in historic downtown McKinney just 10 minutes away.”

The new rental community includes two swimming pools, a multilevel courtyard, beer garden with outdoor fire pit, remote and coworking space, coffee bar and a fitness center. There are also two dog parks.

The first homes in the development will be ready late next year.

“Getting projects started in this environment is challenging, so we are particularly grateful for our financial partners, design team, and construction company,” Blackwell said.

Wisconsin-based Associated Bank provided financing for the project. The apartments were designed by HLR Architecture and TBG Partners is the landscape architect.

Florida-based Mill Creek Residential Trust has 128 rental communities with more than 35,000 apartments completed or under construction nationwide.

In Dallas-Fort Worth, the company is building a 16-story downtown Dallas tower at St. Paul and Wood streets near the new Harwood Park.

Mill Creek is also developing a retail and apartment building on Grand Avenue just south of White Rock Lake. The developer also is finishing construction on an apartment project on the banks of the Trinity River along Beckley Avenue.

Mill Creek plans to begin soon a rental community that will be added to the Hill shopping center at U.S. Highway 75 and Walnut Hill Lane.

D-FW is the country’s fastest growing rental market with more than 72,000 apartments on the way.
