How’s business?
The Houston land market is the hottest I have ever seen it. Land prices continue to go up and developers
and capital sources are back aggressively doing deals.
What was your home-run moment last year?
Getting the last portion of my Kirby-W. Alabama listing under contract and closed for a grocery-anchored
mixed-use development. The property was one of the best sites in Houston and sold for a record price. It
was very rewarding to see the final sale happen for the family I represented.
When is a time in your career that you struck out? What did you learn from that experience?
During the recession of 2008-2010, almost all I did was strike out. Getting a land deal done was difficult
because financing was not an option for buyers. Most of my development deals fell apart and I had to fight
for REO business. I learned to work harder than I ever had before and most of all to never give up no matter
how many times I got knocked down. That struggle made me a much better broker and leader for my team.
If you were a CRE coach, what advice would you have for someone looking to get into the industry?
The No. 1 mistake I see young people make is focusing on money over personal development early in their
career. Focus instead on gaining experience, learning as much as possible and being associated with
people of integrity. The money will always follow.
If your career was a baseball game, which position would you play and why?
Coach. I love helping people reach their potential and guiding them to a win.
What would be the equivalent of a World Series Championship win for you in your career?
I already had my World Series victory at 5 p.m. July 7, 2017, when we officially launched Dosch Marshall Real
Estate. There is nothing more rewarding than doing what you love with the people you love and controlling
your destiny at the same time.
